9/11 Sunrise

I remember being on the beach shooting sunrise 10 years ago on 9/11. I returned home just after the first plane hit the World Trade Center, and witnessed (on TV) the second plane hit. Today's sunrise was just as peaceful as the one ten years ago. Let's all hope and pray that the rest of 9/11/11 remains just as peaceful as this sunrise.

D2x w/ 28-70 f/2.8 @ 28mm
1/6 @ f/11 - MLU and mc-30 remote release
100 ISO
Singh Ray 3 stop reverse grad
Capture One 6, CS4, TK's actions

Your thoughts are always welcomed and appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Very nice Bill! Beautiful and Peaceful. Yes, lets hope so. Just barely seeing the gulls seems like a very nice touch here. This really is wonderful!

Just saw this on FB, glad you took my advice and posted this here Bill...

Love the pastel tones, and that sun coming up over the horizon makes the shot!

I agree, Bill.

I like the quietness of this--peaceful.

Fine photo, Bill. I really like the contrast between the bluish sand and the warm sky.

Nice gradations of hue and texture, and how the delicate foliage looks against the soft sky.

Very peaceful Bill. And thankfully it was peaceful all day.

The brightness of the sand I can understand as it is white. the brightness of the water is throwing me off a bit compared to the darkness of the sky,

Thanks all or your comments.

Youssef - the water does look bright, but it was very bright. I positioned the 3 stop reverse grad diagonally along the water's edge, not the horizon in order to reduce the water brightness, then reduced it even further in post processing, but it still looks bright.

Beautiful scene, Bill, and a nice comp! I think you could brighten the sky a bit to compensate for the issues Youssef mentions. :wavey:

Very nice and peaceful. Looks like a good place to be to get reminded of why life is good, even when remembering the tragic past.
