Blazing Star

by Reed Bowman

Gallery: FloraPosted September 16, 201139 views8 comments
Fall is flower season in FLorida's scrub and prairie's. This is a common blazing star, not one of our endangered plants but stunning nonetheless. Was pretty windy when I shot this so used a Plamp and a reflector, but otherwise natural light.

Nikon D200, Sigma 180 mm f/4
ISO 100, f/13 @ 1/80 sec

thanks for looking

Fine detail and a strong composition Reed. I like this dof decision but could also see more dof to bring the bg green into focus. It's a subjective call though. I don't ever recall having seen one of these. It's an interesting subject and a good looking image.

I like the image, detail and the DOF choice. Just a thought—a CW rotation would give you a classic "X". A bit obvious, I suppose.

Love the way the blossoms spiral into the frame. An interesting image and a lovely flower. Very nice

Reed:
Not a flower I have seen before. Such a nice bunch and must be a sight to see. The capture looks good although I may prefer a little more DOF. Looks good as posted too.
