I think this is a great shot. I like the mood and the rendering of the water. However, I would guess that this belongs into the Man & Nature category rather than Landscape.

Very dramatic image, Andreas. I like the moody tones. It would be nice to see more detail in the shadow darkds, though; they look a little heavy to my eye.

This really belongs in the Man and Nature gallery due to the presence of the lighthouse.

I see that this is your first post. Welcome to NPN! We look forward to your participation!

Wonderfully dramatic. Well done. I do believe this should be relocated in M&N, but that's a Moderator decision.

Andreas,

What a fabulous first post in the Landscape forum! Welcome to NPN - we're glad to have you here. The mood here is wonderful; almost like it would fit the theme for any number of movies or even books (hey, I just realized your title!) This also tells a great story - "against the odds," or something along those lines alerting ships in the night and stormy seas. Very cool, I like this very much.

Now here comes the news. I will be moving this to the Man & Nature Gallery after posting my comments. While the lighthouse is relatively small in the frame, clearly it's central to the story and image. Hope you understand. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact myself or another moderator.

Welcome aboard!

Lon

I like the heavy mood an sense of scale Andreas. It speaks volumes of the power of the sea and weather.

This is really an excellent shot Andreas with a very mystical quality about it. That brooding sky and swirling sea with the solitary lighthouse between them makes for quite a compelling image. Great work.

wonderful mood... I like how the colours of sea and clouds are so similar, yet the patterns quite distinct... :toast:

I quite like it! Very striking, brooding image. I like the shutter speed you used for the water -- gives it a dreamy feel while maintaining the feeling of action and chaos. The gazebo is a perfect focal point, placed well in the frame using the rule of thirds, making the whole composition come together well.
