Overgrown Desolation

I discovered this partially burned house half buried in overgrown grasses while I was visiting friends who live off the beaten path in Utah.

When I took this and several other images, I was intrigued with the weeds, the house, and the sky.

I closed the lens to f/16 because I wanted to capture all of the appeal of the various aspects of the image.

I was using a Nikon 24 to 120mm lens at 40mm, 60 s, ISO 100.

Thanks for viewing and leaving your comments and critiques.

Regards,

Carol

looks spooky, sinister... and the fg grass heavily accentuates this feeling... nice comp you have chosen...

This is a very good photograph. The scene looks a bit creepy. The scene reminds me of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (70ties version).

The dark fg grasses and the strangely ominous sky make the deserted house seem even emptier. The bare windows add to the sense of abandonment. I like this one a lot.

Carol, This is very nice. I like how you shot this and the feel you captured. The sky works great with the desolate mood here too.

I like how the sunlight spot lights the old house Carol. I think the darker grasses in the foreground and darker sky help emphasize it further creating nice layers of dark and light.
