Black Capped Chickadee

This chickadee landed on a branch facing away from me. I was just about to give up on it when it turned its head to attend to some grooming. I think of most of my chickadee shots as essentially black and white birds against a background of either green (summer) or blue-grey (winter/sky). I like this shot because it's the tan underbelly that is emphasized and echoed by the surroundings. That makes it unique in my collection of images.

Sweet, Chris. You really caught the contortionist in these little guys. The whites look good, which is no mean feat in this species. I'm a bit surprised you didn't have more dof with that lens and settings.

I agree with you about the colors, Chris. That tan emphasis and echo is really nice. I like the "different" position of the bird and especially of the bird's head.

Great background and colors but OOF tail feathers sticking over the branch takes my eye to the wrong place for the bird -- I also would prefer to see the whole beak
