Wind Swept

What more could a photographer ask for? A windy (as in gale force), empty beach and a muted sunrise with subtle, beautiful color and moodiness. Well at least I love it..... and that is what counts. Though not really there, the sun that is, seems to streak the beach with subtle color too. Love the blue steaks in the sand.....

Love how the grasses are bowing with the wind, Eva, and the streaking in the sand across the frame as well as the clouds, all giving one a real sense of the strength of the wind you experienced. Like the subtle color in the clouds too. The large size image does much better justice to this image. You must have had a blast in Scotland.

A beautiful image, Eva. Love the glowing quality of light and the flow of grasses against that beautiful sky. Strangely, despite the gale force winds, there is a delicate and tranquil mood to this in a very classical sense, as well as a sense of mystery that I can't quite articulate... more a feeling than anything. Really beautiful work... one of my fav's of yours. Did you use the 70-200 for this one?

Hi David - Thanks so much. I used my Canon 24 TSE (tilt shift) on this. Sorry I did not include that detail. Just tired I guess.

Thanks too Vance! I did have a blast in Scotland. How could I not on a TL workshop. I just loved the moody skies too.

It's like one of those sand storms that's about to hit you. Very dramatic and very well captured, Eva!

A simple scene, which you have made beautiful. Your love for these type of places comes through again, Eva. Love the subtle coloring.

An elegant and beautiful image Eva. The windswept grasses and the swirling clouds with the dawnlight in them work very well together.

Eva, I think this is a definite keeper. The feeling of sand being swept along by the winds is great.

Eva, I enjoy the way the sky counteracts the dunes. Lighting conditions reflect the specific atmosphere wonderfully to me.

Gorgeous Eva, subtle pinks interlaced with blue and all the while that sombre mood so typical of the west coast islands off Scotland. Just got my trannies back - delighted..

Eva,

Just curious was Scotland just like being at home for you? Separated by an ocean but very similar. Just a great capture very powerful and dramatic with the back light in the clouds.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Hi Paul -- funny you mention that. I never really felt like I was "away". I felt very at home and needless to say I wlll be going back..... and no, I am not Scottish.

Beautiful. the motion in the grass give it a very painterly look and the clouds are nicely dramatic. The whole image conveys a feeling of expectation. I like that.

Very nice Eva. I love the color in the clouds, and the sense of movement within the grass. Looks like Scotland worked its magic on you!

Eva,

Like David, I don't get a sense of high wind, or perhaps even temperature, but I certainly get a "sense" of the place; almost a looming, brooding storm that's ready to unleash.... and at the same time this conveys a tranquil element of some remote coastal location.

Not often we see views turned away from the sea. I like it.
