Pools Sunrise

Hello,

Here's a shot of the Seven Sacred Pools, Sedona, Arizona, just as the first rays of sunshine struck the red rocks and illuminated the pools in front of me with a nice reflection.

This is a blend of two exposures. I don't usually blend much; it was more of an experiment and I think I could have had similar enough results playing with only one of the two shots; but I liked the outcome so I decided to keep this one.

Nothing special with the sky that day, but for me this one is more about the red rocks and the reflections.

Canon 17-40L @ 19mm - f/22
1/5s and 1/30s
400 ISO (yes, that's not a typo. A certain set of strange circumstances (long story) made me forget the ISO setting at 400 that morning, but I got away with it  )
PS3

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

A very nice image, Joe. I like your composition. The color intensity in the rocks is amazing, and I like the way they are reflected in the fg rock pool. Set against the strong blue sky, this image has a lot of impact for me. Perhaps a little more shadow detail in the hillside would have been nice, but I still enjoy this image very much.

the reflections steal the show, but its a great image overall... because the reflections nearly match the color tone of the lit pillars, I think the overall darkness of the fg works here...makes those reflections really pop!

Joe,

A great scene; wonderful reflection and great color and light captured on the rocks. for me though, the contrast is a little heavy and like someone else I'm wishig for a bit more shadow detail. The center of the image with the mix of trees and rock gets lost a little because it's so dark. The only other suggestion I have is a slight crop from the left as that side is a little empty and not adding much to the overall scene. I think a couple of tweaks and you'll have an even better image.
