Things to Come...
by Youssef Ismail
Thank you all for the feedback on my last two photos. It is always helpful to get feedback and even to this day I still learn new things here on NPN that help me improve my photography and vision. So Thank You!
Now back to some more typical fare. This was made earlier this summer down in La Jolla California, inspired by the great work of San Diego Local Jimmy Gekas. I had the opportunity to exhibit at the La Jolla Festival of the Arts and had several hours to go out and photograph along the coast. Unfortunately Jimmy and I did not get to meet up, but via text messaging he helped me find this fascinating location where this and the last photo were made.
The light was not particularly exciting, but I made the best of it and this was the extent of the most dramatic light I saw that afternoon. It is a location that definitely will get many more visits from me in the future.
I also have a wider angle of this scene, but not with this light unfortunately.
4x5, 150mm f/5.6, f45, 4 sec, 4 stop GND, Fuji Provia 100F, processed PS CS3, TK Masks used of course.
Your comments and critiques are most appreciated.

17 commentsWho said magenta is bad? I really like the pastel tones in the water and the sky, they really match very well. Great detail in the foreground too. Very beautiful result.
I might clone the big lens flare coming out of the sun at 2 o'clock?

I really enjoyed this one, Youssef.
Solid and inspirational seascape. No nits, and glad you got to spend some time down Jimmy's way. At least now he doesn't have a monopoly on the place!

@Harley, I wondered about the star burst. Rarely do I get one with the LF lenses as they are not stopped down enough to make it happen. So I kind of liked it, but now I am wondering.
@Lon. thanks for the feedback, but I hardly think I will break jimmy's monopoly on this place. He has it locked pretty well, not most of the San Diego locations. I am just glad I had the opportunity to visit the place.
I have one more photo from that day, and will post it soon.
