Sweet Abstract

Sweet because it was taken in the "sugar dunes" in Oman - named after the fact that they are completely white. An impressive sight, though in my opinion quite difficult to photograph in a way that conveys the greatness of the place. So, I tried going for a more abstract composition. Please let me know what you think.

Techs: Nikon D300, 17-55/2.8 DX.

I have mixed feelings, Basil. As i told Tony in his shot, i enjoy taking abstracts like this, but ive seen so many shots that look like this (including a few dozen of my own) that it leaves me wanting more. I think as part of a larger collection it would work well. From a technical standpoint, you might consider focus blending for shots like this, although i dont think the OOF top really hurts this sort of abstract. I still enjoy seeing this, even if it doesn't surprise me--not every shot has to be a shocker

I love the lines and texture. It's a beautiful shot....but I agree with Stan that you might consider a focus blending for this sort of images.

Minimalist perfection. Wonderful shot! I like the way the lines are placed on a diagonal through the frame.

Simplicity is the key ingredient to making this image successful. A real pleasure to look at and with a little imagination lots of things can be conjured up. Excellent abstract Basil!

Love it! Wonderful texture and i love the subtle coloration even more. My only nit is that I would crop upward from the bottom to make the tiny ripple line in the LLC disappear. I absolutely love abstracts like this.
