I think advancement is good in a lot of ways. But not so sure about windmills. I think I like the old nostalgic one's better. But, I bet the dude that owns this land is diggin' his checking account!

Interesting contrast between the new and the old. The sky colors are great and I like the slight blur of the moving blades. Nice image. I wish I was convinced that wind power will be as wonderful as it's touted to be, but I expect that there will be significant unanticipated consequences for the rapid push for wind power.

Thanks Mark! I wish I was convinced too. Most of these things are sitting idle just about every time I drive by this area. Gets me to thinking, you know? There's something about you statement. "Significant unanticipated consequences for the rapid push" for just about anything!

Chris, I like the comparison of the old windmill to the new ones, the sky is beautiful and I enjoy the composition you used. I also like the movement of the blades.

As primarily a bird photographer I'm concerned about the bird deaths these giant wind turbines cause, especially in some locations where you see them as a "farm" that occupies many square miles.

Interesting image. It does make one think about the past and the future, as well as being a good photograph. I do think in time these modern windmills will become as obsolete as the old farm windmills.

I think you captured this at just the right time of day, with the purples in the sky. I still prefer singular old windmills over the new, giant fields of windmills. Several large fields have sprung up throughout central and western Kansas. Mia raises the concern about birds, which is always a topic of discussion, especially since we sit in the Central Flyway migration route.
