The thumbnail is stronger than the image itself which means compositionally it's good but there are a lot of technical issues. Maybe crop below the bright/blown out top section? Nice catch!

Good composition, and there is a lot of potential in this scene. However, he blown areas and softness keep this from being a really good image.

Simon - You have some nice layering in this. Th3e hot spots near the top right are a bit distracting. Maybe crop out the top one and bring down the tones in the loer one? Looks likeit would make a nice B&W too.

I really like the composition and the color has a lot of possibilities, but the problem with the exposure is already noted. This looks like a candidate for a graduated neutral density filter or taking several different exposures and combining them. Great Scene.

It is a delightful scene and your choice of composition is excellent. As mentioned, the blown highlights detract. You might be able to crop them out and make the mid section the focus here.

Simon,

This is certainly a lovely and well captured landscape. I really like the compactness of the design and also the depth and layering creating by the increase haze/fog as you get deeper in to the image. As others have mentioned, the blown areas near the top are problematic. I think at least a little crop from the top to get the brightest area in the URC would help.

I'm sorry to do this to you so early on, but I'm going to move this to the Man & Nature gallery after posting my comment here. While the individual elements are small, they all add up to a scene quite full of the "hand of man;" fences, sheep, and hedge rows... I hope you understand and if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact one of the moderators.

Thanks for posting!

The hazy light create a beautiful sense of warmth Simon. I also agree with Harry on toning down the bright spot in the upper right.

Gorgeous graphic design, Simon. You have good DOF. I would suggest processing this further. I think you have a real keeper.

BTB. this might make a wonderful B/W. Something to consider ...

Carol

Thank you all so much for the feedback on this shot, they are all appreciated and I am taking them all on board. Even though I have only just joined I am finding this very very informative, far better than any photography book.
