St Michael's Fire

Cornwall, UK

I managed to get out for my first landscape shoot in about 6 months. The weather in Cornwall has been on the whole dire for photography since I arrived however for a few short minutes this rain cloud above St Michael's Mount lit up just before nightfall.

Quite spectacular, Kah. The larger image seems noisy and I could be nuts. What was your shooting data, out of curiosity?

Regards,

Carol

Carol, you're right there is some noise. ISO 200, f6.3, 16 seconds. It was almost completely dark at the time so I also under-exposed as much as I could to get the shutter speed as fast as possible to preserve the shape of the cloud.

Wow, this is a striking example of how to make an interesting sight look spectacular. I probably would have tried to go for detail in the buildings and completely missed that amazing glow. Thanks for the lesson.
