Throughout my travels I occasionally see old structures and buildings that have been left behind to decay. I'm curious about their history and I wonder why and when they have been abandoned. Some of the structures are plain and obviously constructed in an era with homemade cement; Others reveal hints that at one point in time, they were a special building such as a place of worship.

I'm guessing that this particular building may have been an old church.

I found it off old route 91 near the Shivits Indian Reservation in southern Utah.

I took the photograph a few years ago and use a D200 with a 70-200mm lens. f/9, 1/25s, ISO 400, tripod, spot meter. tripod.

Processed with ACR, CS5, and Silver Efex Pro 2.

Thanks for viewing and leaving c & c.

Regards,

Carol

Something special about these old stone foundations and walls that I love. Nice processing too, Carol.

Carol, this is a very fitting treatment of the subject. (I too am fascinated by abandoned structures. One of my favorite Adirondack songwriters has a song about "logging roads, graveyards and old cellar holes" which evokes thoughts of the people who built them).

Reaching a bit for constructive criticism, my only suggestion would be more limited depth of field to focus on the stone walls. Sharp background or not, this still looks like a old print that would get me thinking about the builders and occupants.
