Tanager vs Euphonia

Here's another shot from my Ecuador archives that I hadn't posted yet. This Silver-throated Tanager (left) wanted to feed on the bananas at a feeder but this female Thick-billed Euphonia was defending the area fiercely. This was taken at a lodge where the birds are fed regularly but I moved the food to a more attractive part of the tree to enable me to get some nice images. It's too tight on the right but I didn't have much room as this is full frame except for a sliver taken from the bottom, about 95% of the frame.

Both are species I'm unfamiliar with, which is already treat enough, but to see behavioural interaction like this is truly wonderful, thanks for sharing Nate!

I love these kind of candid, animal interaction shots - these are the kind of shots that get me out of bed in the morning! A really excellent shot...well-composed...good light...colors...details. Cheers, and thanks for your advice - it's greatly appreciated!

Perhaps tight on the left side, but this great interaction more than makes up for it Nate.
Like the interesting perch, very good detail/DOF and natural colors :toast:

A great interaction shot ! It may be a little tight in the frame as you mentioned, but it doesn't spoil it for me  . Greetings, Hans

What a nice image of two cool birds! A little more on the lhs would be nice, but still...you've got 2 excellent subjects very sharp with a beauty of a perch and a nice bg. I'd be happy with this. Sharon

Very nice, Nate. Great interaction here. You can really tell this is deep in forested land. Hope to join you there some day.

Neat interaction Nate. Tough action to capture and even tougher to get both birds sharp. Very well done.
