Boone Fork Autumn

I haven't posted in a while but hope to be more active going forward.

Shot this recently at Boone Fork Creek just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. I wasn't too fond of it at first but it grew on me after cloning out some stray sticks in the foreground. Considered cropping more at the top but like the foggy background.

I welcome your comments and suggestions.

I love this image. It has fall color but subtle by most fall photos. Composition is so very pleasing as posted. I wouldn't change anything.

Very moody scene Dale. It's growing on me the longer I view it.

I wonder if you could pull a bit more out of those shadows though...

This is a beauty, Dale! Love the dark, moody feel to it, with the light misty background slowly drawing my attention back to there. Excellent.

Excellent shot. Good decision on the crop. The moody bg puts this one over the top. Outstanding composition also. Nice. :toast:

After looking at shots of the forest I have discovered that a light fog is the best. This has a great mood to it. I lived in Boone NC after I got out of the service I only wish I was into photography back then. Great shot.

Hi Dale,
This has a very dark mood, I like it a lot your composition and the way you subdued the colors really inspire me.

Moody, but pleasing. While it feels a tad underexposed on my monitor, the water and light through the trees keeps it from getting too heavy.

This is a beautiful scene, Dale. I really like the mood and feeling of this image. I agree with Tony that it looks a bit underexposed - some selective brightening could really make the colors pop. Otherwise, this is a very beautiful image.

I wouldn't touch a thing on this image, Dale, as it is superb as presented in my opinion, from the wonderful foreground rocks and falls, back to the fog shrouded trees and autumn color. Fantastic.

This is an excellent presentation of this place to me, Dale. The rocks make for a kind of steadyness that works really well for me together with the dynamics of the flow. The misty atmosphere adds a lot and characterizes this scene impressively to my eye. I also appreciate your exposure and processing.

The foggy background is must for me. A subdued image, but it is all about mood here.

Wonderful image. The Blue Ridge can be magical when you get this kind of fog. I would definitely leave the top portion alone. It sets the mysterious mood for the image. :toast:
