Fall Fern

I spent the last month in AZ and MT, where I was focused on aspects other than flowers and details. Now that I'm back east, my vision is returning to details such as this Marsh Fern (Thelypteris palustris) growing in the woods near the Hawlings river. These bronzed leaves were standing tall in the midst of a large group of shriveled leaves. (5D, 100mm macro, 1/50 s, f/10, iso 800 because of the breeze, tripod)

Nice comp. The diagonals and leaflet forms make for an intensely repetitive image.

Lots of texture and pattern in this image. rich, warm colors, too. I guess I'm always looking for the unusual or different parts of an image because its the two holes and the bent petal in the urc that I find most engaging. A very nice image,

Your composition is strong and I like the repetition of the lines in both the stem and in the veins of the leaves. The color is also nice.

Are you sure you weren't at the macro boot camp with Barbara? This looks pretty Mike Moatish. Well seen and captured.

Mark: Really well seen, composed and captured. The only thing that would make this better for me is if you made the light BG area on the center-bottom match the darker BG of the rest of the shot. Very well done.>=))>

Very structural Mark. Those strong diagonals and sharp edges give a sense of great strengh.

Very strong subject, very strong presentation. I especially love all the tiny lines.
