Long-billed Curlew

by Ron Dudley

This curlew was standing guard over a couple of juveniles in the grasses below the rock and decided to take a preening break. Same perch and possibly the same bird as in my post of 7/3/11, though the images were taken 23 minutes apart.

7D, 1/2500, f/7.1, ISO 400, 500 f/4, 1.4 tc, shot from pickup window on 7/1/11, small exposure adjustment in ACR, cropped to 61% of original image, slight reduction in perch highlights, cloned out a distracting specular highlight in the background, sharpened bird and darker parts of the perch, natural light, not set up or baited

A modeling pose Ron, with the one leg forward and the nice head turn to the rear you caught this beauty well.
