Found this spooky mushroom on a recent hike. Never seen it before and couldn't tell you it's name so I refer to as Casper's Family Reunion. Seemed appropriate for the times.

Keep coming back to this image Bob. Unique forms and lines to this mushroom. Have never seen one like it. Nicely lit and good comp too. It certainly does have a Casper like form. Take care.

Great find, Bob and a nice documentary photo. I too have never seen anything like it and really don't know much about mushrooms. I went to my Peterson Mushroom field guide and this looks like it could be coral hedgehog. Edible too. This one occurs in hardwood trees (living or dead esp. beech, maple oak) east of Great Plain and no. of Tenn and NC. There is a similar western hedgehog coral that occurs in the west in conifers. Not knowing the details of where the was taken, I couldn't say which it might be. Hope this is of some help.

This is cool. Your title is most appropriate. Wonderful detail and dof make this image 'hauntingly' beautiful.

Wow, that is a unique mushroom! This has been a great year in our area for mushrooms with all the rain we have had. I find them fascinating and this one is really fascinating! Never saw anything like it. You handled all that white really well and have great detail in this. Great find, Bob.

Hi Bob :wavey: Reminds me of a group of children wearing ghost costumes, waiting at your door step waiting for haloween treats. Beautifully captured, with sublime whites and light

Bob:
A very unusual find! The diversity of nature never ceases to amaze me. Good controlled exposure on the white.
