Ice is fascinating and mysterious. Ever changing its shape, it adapts, disappears, reappears again, always defying. My latest trip in Gran Paradiso National Park, in Italy, allowed me to focus some of the time on capturing ice and its beauty. The cold, but not super cold temperatures over night allowed water to freeze slowly forming these nice layers. The reflection of the peaks hit by late light of the sunrise created a nice contrast between cold and warm. Not something you didn't see here before, but I'm quite pleased how this image turned out.

I highly recommend the larger version.
