I was fascinated to watch the colors of the sky being reflected off the snow on the mountains during this sunrise in Montana's Paradise Valley. Cropped so that the mountains are centered along the lower 1/3 line and the house in the foreground is on a vertical 1/3 line, choices that should emphasize those elements. They don't it "big sky" country for nothing. Your comp/crop emphasizes the dramatic sky very nicely.

The house seems pretty insignificant compared to that sky and the softly painted slopes. This is lovely

I'm loving this crop, Mark. It works perfectly for this shot. I think the composition is really nice. The skies feel just a bit heavy to me - perhaps a bit more brightness in those dark grays? I love the way the dusting of snow behind the house makes it seem to stand out so nicely. It almost seems to glow. I also notice that the sweeping line of the mountain - from center right toward the left - leads the eye right back to the house. Nicely done!

Great comp and the home FG adds nicely without being obtrusive at all Mark.
I also like the way the Mtns have picked up the skies color, well done! :toast:

Mark, the crop emphasizes the morning sky nicely. You may have a slight halo around the house that is helping it stand out against the snow.

Doug, you've got a good eye, I hadn't noticed that. Here's a version where I reworked the processing on the house to avoid the halo.

Centering th mountains on the 1/3 line? Whatever. It works. This is an excellent horizontal composition. The mountains seem too bright in the small version, but are fine in the larger, which is interesting.
