Sunset at Seney #508

This photo was taken early in the fall at Seney National Wildlife Refuge near Seney, Michigan. The photo is divided into thirds vertically and the cloud eagle on the left is placed at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical thirds.

Wow, I like it Phil. And you've captured the illusive "cloud eagle" too ... sweet!

Lovely colors. The clouds are really nice and the duck(??) cruising across is a good addition.

I'm not real clear on the concept, but this is a beautiful image. Is that a beaver swimming across the pond?

The eagle was formed my a combination of the clouds and two contrails that crossed.. I wasn't happy when I first saw the contrails but as the evening progressed they merged with the clouds to form this spectacular sunset. The bird at the bottom is a Grebe that was passing through.

Phil, I love the cloud eagle; I think your image might be even more effective if you cropped in from the left. Keep the island, remove the trees through cropping and/or cloning, and move the cloud eagle more off center.

Must have been a beautiful sunset you were able to see.

Regards,

Carol

For me, the most appealing aspect of this image is the incredible glow. I think this shot is gorgeous. The little details are wonderful - the sun peaking over the horizon, the glowing eagle shape in the sky, the little duck scooting across the water, and those patterns of dark leaves against the glowing sky. I also like the monochromatic color scheme. All that gold! Wonderful!
