Summer Isles

The Summer Isles (Na h-Eileanan Samhraidh) in the Inverpolly area of the Highlands region of Scotland. Taken a little after Tempest during stormy conditions. Did I say I love this place too..... The light is amazing even / especially when the weather is at its worst. I was in my Snap-O-Matic mode when I took this hand held. If I see light I like, I just tried to catch it however I can. This was one of those moments.

Canon 5DM2
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L at 68mm
ISO400 1/640sec f/8 because hand held
B&W conversion with Silver Efex Pro2

Thanks for having a look.

Love the "classic" look that resembles to old masters in photography. Looks all fine to me, good work as usual Eva!

The light and contrast looks great in this Eva, it kind of highlights all the little isles. The conditions come through nicely in this too with all the little breakers in the surf.

This is quite nice, Eva. I very much enjoyed your large version. You captured the conditions and feel very well.
Hope you have power back on as I was thinking that you lost it.

The conversion adds even more drama to the scene, Eva. The light streaming in from the right is excellent. I would love to see a large print of this one!

Beautiful depth to this Eva. I might crop some of the top (down to the upper clouds). Very nice conversion to B&W too.

Thanks Didl, Gary, Nick, Morris, and Bill.

Thanks for asking Nick. We did loose power Saturday at 8PM. At least for us, power came back on Monday evening. Many homes are still without power.

Eva,

That thin line of clouds really makes this for me as they create some nice contrast in the image both visually and by tone. I'm kinda wishing there was more lightness in the sea, but that's minor. Either that, or perhaps burning down the very top of the clouds to help contain the little row of clouds even more. You've certainly captured the conditions of the place very well here.

Very well done b/w. Perfect feel with the clouds mimicking the islands.

Intriquing composition. I especially like the way the white and gray clouds play against the black and gray islands.
