Backlit cottonwood
by Rob Graham
I took this photo this afternoon, after seeing the light through my rear view mirror. Another photographer stopped also. I used a mid-range zoom to isolate the leaves from the rest of the scene. Is there too much chaos? 7D, ISO 400, 1/250, f/8, 271mm full frame. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

4 commentsThe leaves of autumn are always enticing especially when you can get under the canopy with a big sky above lighting up the leaves. I like view here. While the bright areas don't bother me so much because they're almost expected, I am wishing for a little more structure from the cottonwood branches. Not to draw too much of a comparison, but something like Bruce's similar image below. You've got great color in the leaves and I like the mix of back-lit and non-back-lit leaves; I just think it needs some structure to hold it all together. Minor point though and most of the time those situations aren't always present.
