This was taken along a lake at 10,000' in elevation in the middle of September, and Fall always starts up there in the ground plants. These are just spent Fireweed and grasses.

5d, 28-135mm, tripod, polarizer, shutter release,

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

Beautiful fall color. I like the framing of the tree trunks.

Morris, I really like the foreground here with the transitioning fall colors. I have reservations about the cut off trees, the water, and the stump. I think I'd make this a more intimate fallscape by eliminating the top to make this into a 4x5 or even a square comp.

HI morris, I agree with Scott. I think just the gradual color change of the grasses would be a more powerful photo.

Morris: Marvelous scene and an interesting combination of elements. I actually like the inclusion of some of the water but think I would crop at least 50%. Makes me want to be there. >=))>

Beautiful color palette. IMO a slight cropping at the top might be advantageous.

I like the transition from strong foreground color to muted blue water. This does a really nice job of telling the story of fall and all the changes that are occurring.

Morris,

This might be stronger compositionally, if it were cropped but I guess I'm not convinced. I was drawn to look at the image as much by the trees and the water as the fireweed, in fact possibly more so. I think this is just more of a landscape style image where there's not a particularly dominant subject element. I like the image very much as posted and would certainly hang it on my wall and enjoy it.
