Boreal Chickadee

This isn't a species I've seen many images of here so thought I'd post this one. From the northern part of Alaska on the Denali Highway last March.

This about 90% of the full frame.
NR applied to the background and cloned out a couple of bright spots that bothered me.

Techs:

Canon 50D
500mm f/4 with 1.4x TC
1/500 @ f/5.6 ISO 400

Larger version included which shows much more detail in the plumage.

Terrific! The soft light and setting are so appropriate for this species.

Looks like a real bird sitting right there on that twig! I like the color palette and the bird is nice and sharp throughout. Sharon

This couldn't be much better IMO. Natural setting that's not distracting, nice exposure and incredible detail. Very attractive subject too. Very impressive Keith.

The detail in the large version is awesome. The soft light works well in this portrait. I like how it's perch fades into the background tree trunk. Sweet Photo Kieth

Plumage is in very nice condition, fluffed up too. You captured an excellent pose and unobstructed view. Well done.

Great detail. The position of the bird on the perch gives a real sense of depth to the photo.

Great image. Yo have a frame filling shot, yet also managed to include some habitat. It is not just a bird sitting on a stick. The color, detail and dof of the bird are very good.

What a gorgeous little bird, and the setting is perfect too. Good work, Keith.

Perfect capture Keith. We have these in our Boreal Forest about 100 km from here so I am hoping to get up there this winter and perhaps find some. I would be thrilled to get a shot as good as this one.
