Basking in the Afterglow

The sunset wasn't much, but I was glad I hung around camp to see what followed. I framed some compositions with some close foreground elements backed up with this intense afterglow. Just then, my fellow camper, Dave pulled in from twilight fishing, and I said "Ooh, ooh, hold it right there -- Don't move!" I quicly reframed the shot, hit the remote release, and hoped for the best. He did amazingly well for a 5 second exposure.

Canon 50D
Sigma 17-70
5 seconds @ f/11; ISO 200

Absolutely beautiful! Reminds me of the tidal rivers of midcoast Maine Wayne when me, my husband, and 2 sons cruised the quiet waters at sunset in our kayaks. Beautiful and relaxing scene. Wonderful reflection and color.

This is absolutely gorgeous, Wayne. Really captures the emotion of someone simply sitting back and enjoying the quiet evening light fading into the night. An outstanding image.

Wayne, I like the silhouettes you captured here. The colors are great; I especially like the transition to blue in the water. Nice image!

Great sharpness on the kayaker for a 5 second exposure, Wayne. Way to go. Would have been even nicer if only there were a bit more separation between the kayaker's head and the dark reflections on the trees on the water.
