Elaphurus davidianus.

Very strange looking beasts. Taken in Margam country park today, just before my camera shutter failed.

Canon 7D, EF 300mm f/4L & 1.4x TC, monopod and ballhead. Aperture priority mode, f6.3, 1/400sec, ISO400, -1/3 exposure compensation. Imported with Adobe camera RAW, processed in CS5: shadow/highlight, curves, contrast and sharpness. Noise reduction with Nik Dfine, fullframe.

C's & c's very welcome as always!

Thanks.

I really like the nice foreground wash...and the color behind the antlers is lovely! Great capture and pose!

The foreground mush works nicely. Shame about the camera shutter, hope you can get it sorted quickly.

I've never seen one of these in the flesh, they are strange looking aren't they? The composition works well with good eye contact.

Hello Paul.

Yep that a strange looking deer but you have captured it quite nicely.

Only comment would have been to have had the deer slightly more to the left and alittle more room on the right.

A cracking image! Funny how opinions differ though - I would take a little off the right and bottom and maybe add a little on top.

Thanks everyone. It was difficult to get the comp right with this animal. They like to keep close together, so I had to make a compromise. Thanks for all the positive comments. :wavey:
