Another shot from my trip to Danube Floodplains in Lower Austria last week. In the late afternoon last sunrays illuminated this group of birches subtly.

This is excellent. Love the understated tones and dark and foreboding feel to the image.

The thumbnail of this jumped out at me. I really like the starkness of this, as well as the muted colors. It's also very nicely composed for such a chaotic scene. Very enjoyable.

Wonderful detail and subtle hues in this soft light....I love the intricate patterning of the fine, bare trees and undergrowth.

Superb, Peter! The subtle light works great in creating a mysterious atmosphere and the composition is just right.

Nicely seen and composed. The quality of the light is very interesting and appealing. It's almost like the light is helping to bring out the detail within the jumble of branches. I think that a slightly tighter crop perhaps would be worth considering, from the bottom and left, to eliminate some of the relatively empty space there.

These trees have a lot of personality, Peter. It's sort of chaotic, but also abstract. Larger version shows a lot of wonderful detail.

Love all the natural colour in this Peter and the organised chaos. Lots and lots of detail in this.

Sure I like this one Peter! My kind of scene. And I like it for its familiarity. Very well composed. The light is super appealing too.

Not sure if these are birches though. I think it is a white poplar ("silberpappel").

I like the chaos too!
2 suggestions:
personally id crop about half the bottom (1/2 the distance from the base of the lhs tree) this improves the balance IMO
If you save at about 800-900 pixels, you can save at 500KB and have less compression to worry about
Nice! :wavey:

The colors are all so similar it almost looks like a monotone image. There is certainly lots of things to look at in this scene and all those details are crisp and clear. Excellent shot, Peter and thanks for the large version, it has a great deal more presence and information.
