Nikon D200
Nikon VR 80-400 @400

This little blue went about his fishing business and couldn't care less about me. Thanks for watching - C&C always appreciated.

This shot is dark and has an element of mystery that fits this darkness too it, Esme. The large splash and droplet trail leads to the head of the bird. The most obvious explanation is that the bird has just withdrawn its head from underneath the water and you have captured that moment. However, since the motion is completely frozen it appears that the bird is stationary and the splash is caused by something else.....thus the mystery! Lovely bg. I would like to see it a little lighter just so the detail shows up better. However, even as posted, it's an interesting, unusual shot.

Very nice capture, Esme'. You captured both the bird and it's reflection and the frozen drops of water are great. :toast:

By the way, what was your f/stop, speed, and ISO.

Thanks,

Carol

Carol: f/6.3, 1/640 and ISO 200
Handheld or perhaps I should say kneeheld, because I was sitting on a rock and digging my elbows in my knees to get some stability for the camera.

Wow! Nice one! I'd like a slightly tighter crop to remove dead space around the edges. I love the unusual pose and action.
