First Light @ West Point

Haven't had the chance to photograph much lately, this is one of the best from a trip to Tasmania's west coast on the weekend. I hope the light and the detail create enough interest.
There was haloing evident on both images I used for the blend, I guess because the b/g rock is backlit, any ideas on reducing it and any other opinions very welcome.

Beautiful light. I love the combination of pale smooth rocks in the foreground and the colorful detailed grasses.

I agree with Guy, great perspective and the highlites on the brushes is awesome! There's a pretty noticeable halo around the back rocks--should be easily corrected (sacrifice some of the brightness on the rocks if need be) :wavey:

Nice job of using the available light to turn a somewhat ordinary scene into something special. The halo isn't too distracting IMO but no doubt would be in a larger print. Love the details in the grasses. :toast:

The light is fantastic. Nice comp, too. This works well for me. The halo around the rocks is a minor nit.

Nice comp and the light works. Good perspective of an ordinary subject. The halo isn't a big problem...I think I'd try reworking a layer of the sky by brightening it up a tad in the halo area and blending.

Good eye for finding this scene. With the bright highlights, it breaks up the patterns in a very nice way and add focal points when viewing.

Neale,

I'd say you did real well with creating an excellent landscape image - from a bunch of rocks. But as we all know, it's about light and timing and you nailed both of those. I like the emphasis you've provided with the rocks and light from the viewpoint you chose. You were blessed with some nice drama and mood in the sky and all together this image works beautifully.

Thanks for the useful and positive comments everyone...and I should have added in my original post that I used TK's triple play actions here as I do on most of my images now, thanks Tony :jump: !!
