These animals can be a real pain to get near to let alone get images of, this one had just left the "dry" waterhole at Ngweshla, hence the socks.

Taken in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe, 2nd September 2011

EOS 1D MkIV

500mm F4 hand-held

F7.1, ISO 800, 1/640

Great focus on the subject. I like the lighting and position of the antelope(?) within the photo a lot. I'm not sure what it is, but the ground around the hooves looks blurry compared to the hooves themselves which looks funny to me.

Great light and a gorgeous looking antelope ive never heard of before. I did notice the blurring around the legs, especially on the larger version. I would hold back on the blurring. Not sure if it adds to the image, the antelope stands out nicely in the warm light even otherwise. More texture in the foreground may be good after all.

Very rare to spot one of these in Bots; did you see many in Hwange Ken? Good light, great detail on the animal and the clear eye is a strong focal point. The socks of course are making this particularly interesting. The blurring looks a bit awkward indeed.

Vincent,
I have only seen Roan, in the Mopane woodland in the Kwando concession, no good shots though.

In Zimbabwe only in Hwange, and not all that often, this year we saw quite a few but never really close.

In an attempt to cover up my embarrasment here is a repost I had to start from scratch
