One more hummingbird photo from Ecuador. This is probably the most elegant species we encountered during Nate and I's last visit. Unfortunately, as I did have several opportunities to photograph this species with our high speed flash set-ups, I didn't get anything I liked. I am eagerly looking forward to my second chance coming up in early January to make some unique in flight images of this awesome hummingbird.

Canon 40D, 100-400mm @320mm, ISO 800, 1/60, f5.6, fill flash -1 1/3, cloned out a small piece vegatation crossing the end of it's tail.

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated

Look at all the colors on that bird -- That blue on the tail is like an exclamation mark at the end of a sentence --

Beautiful shot, I love the bokeh on the right and the green and blue hues...

Gee Ken, I'm not sure additonal flash could make this any more beautiful ??? (Just saying....) This could probably work quite well in a vertical format too, but I like the inclusion of the colorful background colors on the right side to keep the image from feeling too dark. What a stunning bird btw!

I am as green as your backgorund ,when viewing this little jewel you have here.really like the fact that youo captured some of his plumage irridescence too.Perhaps a little burning on the light spots to the right of the bird as ones eye does wander a little in that direction .
