Just a Black Cap

Not much to shoot around here these days except the chickadees. I rotated this a bit and cloned in a bit of canvas at the corners and part of an OOF branch.

Nikon D300s, 300 mm lens, HH, f 2.8, ISO 320, 1/5000

Thanks for looking and critiques always appreciated.

It's hard enough to get them on a perch, this is a great shot. I really like the bg and the detail in the feathers. Excellent all around.

I've not had much luck catching these inflight myself, so hat's off to ya May,
Well done.

Very interesting - we don't get to see a full spread in this species very often.

Might be "just a black cap", but an excellent flight shot of one. Excellent details and the background is fantastic to set off the bird. Nicely done. :toast:

Great!! I can't even get one of these guys sitting still. I might try to bring out that catchlight just a bit.

Beautiful, May. Great job getting a flight shot of one of these, let alone such a crisp one. I always seem to be shooting them at about 1/60 sec instead of 1/5000 this time of year-I envy you the light.

Exceptional pose - tough enough to catch these still, sitting on a branch, let alone in a pose like this.
Great detail and nice BG.

Congratulations.

Congrats on the weekly pick! Great detail in the feathers, nice job getting a chickadee in flight. If I were to look at my chickadee in flight shots it would look like a black and white blob in the air  !

Hello May.
Sorry i missed this when you posted it,think the detail on this is superb i would have difficulty getting this on a still bird never mind flying,it's excellent.
