Grooming

This was a photo I caught at the Savannah Refuge. Yesterday was cloudy and cold. The Great Egret was sitting on the bank grooming itself. I tried to make up for the clouds by increasing my brightness. I really like this photo because of the angle of the feathers and the head tilt. I have cropped by 25% and have just done minor repairs, such as sharpening, noise removal, and a little more contrast. What do you think? All c & c's appreciated!

Carlette, your exposure is good IMO. For me the comp would be stronger without thing in the water on the lower left. In the larger version, the bird's head is a bit soft from movement as the bird was preening. I would have liked to seen it sharp. A bit more SS would have been needed to stop the motion.

NIce exposure.....details look good too. A lower angle would have been a bonus.

Carlette, Both my wife and I like this image a lot. Your composition and the Egret's pose are great. One thing I learned from the NPNers when shooting white birds is the have a bit to a lot of negative Exposure Compensation depending on lighting conditions. Also adjusting to a lower or negative EV (for Canons) will increase your SS when your are shooting with AV mode.
