Seashell of Ice

Another one from the beautiful Jökulsárlón lagoon in Iceland. The sun had already set when I stumbled upon this beautiful piece of ice laying on the shore in the lagoon. I felt an immense sense of peace here and I think the subtle tones and colours reflect that? C&C welcome and please view large.

Very moody, and very nicely composed too. I love exploring the dark FG for little bits of detail . Exquisite IMO.

Very classic and extremely pleasant image... I like the way the ice in the foreground emerges from the dark area surrounding it.

Love the image , and the contrast of the f/g ice block on the dark shore.....I really like the play of light on the different sobjects, altering the luminence between the water, the ice and the clouds. There is more and more to see and wonder at....very nicely done.

Wonderful contrasts Adrian. The ice is showcased nicely by the black beach. I like the grays and blues in the upper 2/3rds a well.

Oh wow, I love the mood here! Even though the blue tones impart o sense of cold to this image, it is inviting at the same time. Very beautifully done, Adrian.

I like the comp. LLC is a bit of black hole in terms of interest. Given it's size, would be nice to have a little texture here.

There is nothing as hauntingly beautiful as blue ice on a black sand beach under a stormy sky- gorgeous!

Hi. Thanks for all the comments. Tony, I agree with you. Unfortunately, there's no interesting detail in the black sand itself.

More detailed version. I think the sand highlights detract from the image a bit making it appear a bit messy.
