Here is another shot from this year's rut. II took this one right before sunrise broke through the fog. So it has a completely different feel to it from my last one right after the sun broke though.

Kurt, great evocative scene, the colours really echo that lovely cold crisp time of year. The bellow of the Elk is the icing. :toast:

Kurt,
You really captured a great moody feel in this image that I think works well. As steve said the bellow is just great!

Hey Curt,

Classic shot - love the colour palette, low angle of view, and the pose is just great. This one works very well for me...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Very nice capture from the low angle to the turn of the head. The bulls body seems a bit washed out but that might be my monitor.

Another winner here Kurt, you walked away with an excellent series from the elk rut this year. Beautiful color and the elk is sharp as can be. A bit too centered for my tastes (broken record, I know), but that's a minor nit. Great work!

Thanks for the comments everyone. No worries Guy! However,I think your definition of centered and my definition of centered are 2 different things  . I don't think it is centered at all...with this position, if I move it more to the right, it will be too tight. I also don't like moving this type of pose to the left because he is looking that way and it then feels like to me, it is too tight that way. When I have a shot with the long body showing, I use the top shoulder as my point of reference and I am thinking you use the eye? I do appreciate your opinion though and thanks for being honest in your critiques! :toast:

You did very well with the elk rut Kurt, love the setting, a background to die for. A little bit of mist from the breath would have been too much to ask I guess. Wonderful techs. :toast:
