This is probably my favorite photo of 2011. I originally posted it in late October. Very recently I learned it placed second in the "Share the View" inter-national nature photo contest sponsored by the Audobon Society of Denver. Thank you everyone for your encouraging comments about this photo on my first post.

This is the absolute perfect pose for this action. I normally see them from the side when they pounce. Great detail and perfect timing.

Wow! Congratulations on winning second place - it is well-deserved! This is a gorgeous shot - the incredible action grabs your attention and the wonderful colors and simple composition make it even better. Fantastic!

Ken, I was taken by this image when you originally posted it and once again it is captivating. Wonderful colours and overall feel, but obviously its the wonderful capture of the split-second action that makes this the (now literal) winner that it is. I live the straight-on angle and the sliver of eye that helsp give expression and heightens the drama. Two thumbs up, to say the least.

I loved this when you first posted it up and I love it all the more now Ken, the only thing I don't like about it is that I don't have anything similar in my collection ;^)

Thanks for sharing and wishing you a spectacular year ahead :^)
