Calla Lilies

Calla lilies are so graceful and beautiful, I knew I had to try to capture them. The calla lilies were laid face down on the glass bed of my scanner and scanned into a .tiff file at 600 dpi. I am still new to this method of "scanography" and find it so challenging. Post processing was done in Nik Software's Viveza and Photoshop to clean up the white specks on the background.

Comments, thoughts ... all are always welcome. Happy New Year everyone!

My thoughts on this one are that it doesn't work for me like the other ones have. The upside down one seems out of place, and there is too much out of focus on the others. Just my thoughts, though.

Keep experimenting. I'm sure fellow NPN'er Gary Yeoh would offer you some tips. He's mighty good at this technique. :wavey:

Barbara: I like the concept here. For me this image is about sweeping lines and the graceful nature of callas. I think you could accentuate that a bit more by cropping from both sides to make this narrower with less negative space on the sides. Keep thinking outside the box. >=))>

Barbara, I like the "dreamy" look you have achieved. Almost seems like the lilies are under water.

Full marks for a fascinating experiment, Barbara ! I like the flow of the callas, though, like Barbara, I'm not too sure about the upside down one and I might like a touch more in focus. I've already come back to this once and will do so again - an interesting image .

Thanks for all your comments. Some of your comments stated you like the dreamy look to these, and so do I. I find objects that do not lay flat on the glass of the scanner have a tendency to look softer. I need to work on the resolution setting to see if I can improve the clarity of the subject. I think if the stems of the lilies were a bit more flexible, they may have made for a better composition. I'll keep working at this. Stay tuned for more. Thanks again for all who stopped by and made comments. They are all much appreciated.
