Blizzard O' Snowies

What do you call a group of Snowy Owls? A flock? I must say I'd never had to worry about such a term before this winter, but...given that I saw at least 30 different Snowy Owls in a relatively small area today, maybe a term is needed! I think a "blizzard" of Snowy Owls is an appropriate term! It's been a rather amazing winter for these guys.

This was the first one of the day today, bright and early near dawn. Canon 50D, 400 5.6L, ISO 500, 1/200, f5.6, 430EX @ -1.

Wow, what eyes! Nice photo. If it were mine, I am debating if I would get rid of the flash catch light in the eyes. Minor nit. Enjoy your "blizzard" of Snowy Owls.

Sweet look at this snowy Terry. Wish I had the problem of seeing too many snowy owls. Have fun with them while they are around.

It is really staring you down, Terry :). Great capture. We are having plenty of these here in Kansas, but so far the couple I have seen haven't been very approachable :(, so I am getting just "owlscapes".

Great look from the bird. I like the pastel blue of the background with the colors of the owl. Looks like you'll be having a blast with these birds for a while - enjoy!

Nice to have such an invasion Terry where you can pick and choose your subject and comp. I like the straw perch and those eyes are killer. Enjoy the show, I sure am from afar. :toast:
