Happy New Year to all of you!
Got this guy last week after an amazing day of shooting that followed a close call in the morning. My foot got caught in the muck and me in my waders went down but the gear was safe up high. I thought it would be the start of a bad and cold day but it was a really great day full of photo ops. This one was later in the aftternoon off the Courtney Cambell causeway Tampa. I spotted 3 grebes swimming together so back in the water I went and stayed for a good 2 hours of shooting them.

This is really nice Cheryl! I'm wondering what kind of snake is in its mouth? Perfect dof, nice water droplets, excellent exposure, a great eye, a "good look through the nostril, and the prey all add up to a winner! Happy New Year to you, too! Sharon

Cheryl, Love this image of the Horned Grebe with a pipe fish (I think). Great exposure, I always seem to get complete red-eye. I only have one question; where do you rent the submarine to get these low POVs. Love it.

Great catch, I love the detail in the grebe's feathers, and the water droplets.
Well done!

I really like the intimate look at the feeding behavior here. Great low angle, exposure looks good and the relatively tight composition works just fine for me. Well done.

Cheryl, Nice low angle and details. I like the snack also. I do wish it were angled slightly towards us but nice job with that eye!

looks great, Cheryl--nice detail, great job on the red eye and the rest of the exposure, and the prey is really cool. I'd consider going slightly looser on the comp but that is just personal preference.

Very nice. A lot of good things about this photo as already mentioned but what I like best about it are all the flying water drops.

Wow, excellent shot with the low perspective, the larger image has very nice detail and the food in the beak tops it all off, well done.

Sweet! I've been after a shot of these guys in LA for awhile but have not had any luck. The detail in the large view is great.
