Beautiful, John. It looks like you were able to maintain some detail in the whites, very nice. I would hate to be whatever was under that stare :). Happy New Year to you too.

Sweet shot John. Love the flight position of the bird. Very sharp with great detail. Maybe just a bit more room on the left?

Outstanding action photo, John. Love the pose (if you can call it that) and the detail in the feathers. The BG compliments the eagle perfectly. Those talons sure look like they mean business. As I recall, an eagle can exert several thousand PSI of pressure through them. Not much could stop them from securing a meal. Happy New Year to all!

outstanding, John. really love the pose here--extended legs, outstretched wings, angled head and tail are all really nice. sharpness looks great too. I agree with Ron that just a little more on the left would make this perfect (and would probably be pretty easy to add if you don't have it in the original. congrats and happy new year.

Hello John
Sweet !! A Classic image for sure !!!!
The thing that first grabs me is your beautifully exposed head with extreme detail & intensity of the Eagle-Eye ! The symmetry from head to tail flows gracefully with good details in the wings darker shadowed areas. The talons extended add to the mood and intensity of the stare and focus on his intent to capture within his talons the unsuspecting.
The very small feather movement at wing tips add to the powerfully displayed image.
Really ebjoyed this impressive capture. Thanks for sharing!!!!

Great position. I'd be interested in the circumstances of the image if you'd share them.

Fantastic classic pose. Great details. I'd love to see just a bit more room on the left, but such a small nit on a fantastic image. Congrats on this capture.

Thanks for the comments everyone. For those asking about more details, this was taken out at Farmington Bay WMA here in northern Utah last February, and this particular eagle was coming in and landing near another eagle that was squawking as this one approached.

Excellent flight posture and sharpness. Detail and light on the entire bird looks good. I too would like to see a bit more room on the left but this is a fine image as presented.
