Misty Moon Lake
by Jim Hansen
I am pretty new here and haven't posted much so far, mainly due to time constraints preventing me from getting out to shoot. I have gone through a number of periods of photographic productivity, followed by long periods of life's events getting in the way. Here is a photo I took some years ago during one of those enthusiastic periods. The location is at about 10,000 feet elevation in Wyoming's Big Horn Mountains. If memory serves me, I was using a Minolta X-700 with a standard 50mm f1.4 on Kodachrome 64. I have no memory of the settings. Some people have a hard time figuring out what is happening in this picture, but basically it is a foreground rock in the lake with the rest being reflection from the sky and background mountains. Constructive feedback would be appreciated.

I think this is a pretty bold and dynamic composition. Excellent reflection-scape. It wasn't so hard to figure out, but definitely approaches being a mind-bender, which can keep the viewer engaged. and I think this works quite well in that regard.
Not sure really what to suggest. I think the contrast is a little high (very bright highlights, up top, and some blocked blues) but I think that's part of the boldness here. The only suggestion I have is an alternate view by cropping the entire landscape up top and just go with the rock and reflection. Not to improve, but just an alternate view.
