This Least Sandpiper is also from my outing with Rich Ditch and Jim Hackley, taken within a few minutes of the avocet I last posted. I thought the colors turned out well.

Congrats to the VERY well-deserved 2011 Editor's Pick winners, and thanks to everyone for the critiques, comments, and inspiration over the last year. Happy New Year!

I appreciate your critiques and comments. Please view the larger version if possible.

I like the light, the low angle and the colors. I also like the shallow DOF and the refection. Nice way to start off the new year.

Brian, You sure utilized the great light well. The low POV and the light reflections of the ripples on the Sandpiper are what I really like. The great techs and composition are great also.

I like this very low angle and golden light. The ghost-like reflection is appealing. Nice image.

This is so cool! What I really love about it is how that reflection kind of fades away into the OOF foreground. Really nicely done!!

Excellent shot Brian, that low perspective really adds a lot to this composition. The challenge was getting a sandpiper isolated from other birds and still getting a good water color and bird reflection which you were able to do. Good eye and well done.

I really like this shot. The reflection marks on the bird as well as the reflection of the bird in the water is awesome.

Wonderful light and I like the water reflection lines on the bird. Low angle works well. Colors are great too. Well executed Brian.

Excellent. Getting close and low is only part of the trick here - timing the shutter release to those rare times when the sandpiper isn't in a feeding frenzy is also hard to pull off.

I really like the low angle you got here and the light is beautiful, I like the moment you captured with the beak just touching the water and that pretty reflection.
