Taken late last fall (actually in early Dec.) on a very frosty morning at the local public gardens. Requisite disclosure: not "staged," but somewhat rearranged. NikonD700, 105 Micro Nikkor, polaizer, iso 200, f22, 1/4 sec.

Love these studies in repeating patterns. Just gorgeous!

On a slight side note...as you mentioned that there was some rearrangement...you can definately tell that there is less frost on the more colorful accents. Nothing a buyer would complain about...but noticeable...

Another wonderful (don't forget to look down) image. The arrangement looks wonderful to me. Great effort and reward in my opinion.

Let me guess, you added the green leaf (and maybe the red one with the frost melted off the bottom) A very appealing image with just enough color to keep it from being stagnant. Great job

Scott, frost always makes for a beautiful composition. Very nice. And yes, I think we all should look down as we wander about, you just never know what you'll find.

Tastefully re-organized and as you already know the Frost is what makes this photo so attractive. Always nice to see some colors in the middle of winter now :toast:

Lots of things to like about this with plenty of detail and an ice mix of colors - I do find that real brightly colored one a touch distracting though

Scott: Not bad for a macro guy . This is really well seen IMO and the polarizer is a great choice. Well done.>=))>

Technically, Bill, I shot this before I became a macro guy. I'd do it all differently now.

Rearranged or not, this makes for a beautiful image, Scott - the one green leaf gets you asking questions, which is good I feel.

How do you rearrange frosted leaves without disturbing the frost?? I don't see obvious evidence of handling. The visual flow is excellent with the various colored leaves. Beautifully done.

Thanks for the comments. Mark, I handled them by the stems and used a small twig. Your right, touching the leaves will instantly melt the frost. As I recall, I just added two or three reddish leaves. The scene was pretty cool to begin with but I wanted to give it a little more pop.

This looks so good, I could eat it. Just like the sugary coated dried figs and fruit we'd snack on as kids. I am glad there are reds and brighter greens which add whimsy and vibrance...lifting it out the drab. Well done and just the right size for viewing those superb details.

Thanks, Albert. You know, I was afraid someone was going to ask me the identity of the leaves. Truth is, I don't know. They are from a flowering shrub that I never paid much attention to until I shot this, and then I forgot to see if there was a sign for the species when I finished shooting.

Very well rearranged, Scott. The colors seem even more vivid with iced edges. Splendid.
Take care.

Beautiful rich colors. And just the right amount of frost to have the color and texture show through.
