Mt Assiniboine

The awesome looking pyramid at the centre-left is Mt Assiniboine located on the border between British Columbia and Alberta. Last week, I went up a dome called nublet that offers great views. It wasnt as cold as i feared but the wind was crazy and had wiped out my footprints on the icy slopes. I decided to come down to this flat spot further down (from where i could still see my route down) to have lunch and watch the sunset. Unfortunately the sunset just fizzled out into gloomy grey. May not be as well thought out as some of the pics here but hope the spectacle makes up for it

This is a nice scene, but I am guessing the heavy blue cast is making the image look quite flat (in addition to the gray conditions). ??

Anand,

You've certainly captured what look to be like cold and blustery conditions. I really like the snow-ladden mountains and even though the sky is pretty grey, I'm not bothered by the near-empty top. You've taken care of that by emphasizing the foreground landscape. It's just my opinion, but the main subject seems to be the big, blank patch of snow - at least that's how it seems to me from the composition. Of course I wasn't there so I'm not sure how else you could have framed this. If there were indeed some wind-blown patterns in that snow perhaps getting right on top them to showcase them.... but then you might have needed some different light. I dunno.

Love the mountains, just the foreground isn't holding my interest for long.

Nice image that well captures the feel of a bleak, barren landscape. I think setting the white point somewhere in the foreground patch of snow would gives this a little more snap.

The middle mountains are wonderful. A sunset would have been awesome; I just wish I could figure out how to produce them on request  .
