Longs Peak---Fall

I know---another classic shot, but this is a BEAUTIFUL place! It was just amazing standing there, looking down at Bear Lake watching the sun go down. The colors were also vibrant, making a unique (yes, it's popular---but unique  ) scene high in the Rockies...

I also was able to chat with Erik Stensland for a few minutes at this location. If you want to see his capture of this area, that same evening, take a look at 'Images of RMNP' (his site).

ISO 100---f/13---0.6 sec.---Hitech 0.9 soft GND filter

BTW, is this a bit sharp up here?

C and C appreciated!!!

Maybe a colorspace issue? Did you convert to, and assign when saving, sRGB? (If I pop it into Photoshop and assign AdobeRGB, it does look much better.)

Comp and color are very nice!! (Not a big fan of the central C though  )

Thanks for the comment, John. I've been considering taking the ugly 'c''s out of my photos. Is it safe to present photos without that extra watermark? Also, I'm pretty sure I did sRGB. I'm not a computer geek, so I could easily be missing something obvious...

Nathan,

Beautiful autumn scenic from Colorado. The light on the peak tops this off wonderfully. I'm partial to the shorter format... so I was thinking about a slight crop off top and bottom (not much, say 5%) Just tightens up the comp a little, considering the blank sky and all. But that's very, very minor and more of a personal choice than anything. Beautiful scene.

Lon

oh, looks plenty sharp, but not overly so. looks good here.

My worry is that Copyright notice need to be huge to really work (small is easily cloned out), thus ruining the photo. I think the signature you have works well (it discourages the lazy), but the central C isn't worth the distraction IMHO. Oh, and sharp looks good to me too.

Hmm, color looks ok to me actually. Maybe a tad muted, but certainly realistic and enjoyable. As John notes, a color space issue is the obvious culprit and aside from that I've nothing to suggest. Very nice image...well composed with some nice autumn accents.

As an aside, my personal take on the copyright symbol is the same as John's. Somebody who wants to steal an image will likely find a way to work around anything except a large symbol. I've opted not to worry about it and don't even bother with a symbol...

Lon---It's great to here you thoughts on cropping this. I played around with it for a while, but I think I'll give your idea a try. I was a little disappointed about the empty sky!

John---Makes sense. I've gotten a lot of kind suggestions relating to the 'c'. Maybe it is a bit overkill! Thanks again...

Lovely, Nathan. I photographed fall colors in the Rockies this year. I wish that I
had come across this scenic.

Robert---if you didn't already know---it was taken just above Bear Lake, in Rocky Mountain National Park. I'm sure any local photographer would know how to get to this place sleep-walking, as it's not too far from the trail!

Great shot here Nathan. Wonderful collection of colors. I like the framing with the trees along the side and the rocks along the bottom. The light just hitting the top of the peak adds a nice effect. Well done.
