Since we have had now winter snow yet. I'm showing you some autumn snow! This is my stitched pano rendition of the view from Liedig Meadow last fall. I thought it interesting to see Lon and my compositional choices, as we were basically standing next to each other while taking them. I'd love to hear your thoughts. LArge version too.

D200,
18-70mm,
4 vertical images stitched,
1/8thsec, F/11,

Thanks,
Chris

Oh my, this is just awesome Chris! Great balance in the comp, detail, and the conversion really shines here. This just screams Yosemite, and I'm sure would look fantastic in a large print. Let's hope for a dumping next week!

Really nice! I love those layers of trees and the frosting of snow is wonderful. If I had to suggest something, I would say to add a sliver to the top, but it's also great as is. :toast:

Chris,
I really like all the textures you captured in the snow, trees and rock...
Comp, exposure and processing look excellent to me.
Very nice and I agree that it would make a stunning large print.
Nicely accomplished.

Pretty scene, Chris. I would not mind a bit more room up top, it feels a bit cramped to me. At least someone in CA got some snow this year, even if it was autumn. So far, that has been it.

So that"s what it looks like  .This is very nice Chris, and even better in the large version! All the fog/cloud across the top adds a nice touch to this in contrast with the very sharp tree line at the bottom. Nice work.
Actually, we are getting snow now as I write this! Maybe 4-6 inches today.

To be honest, this is nice but I don't think this as strong as most of your Sierra shots. I think the layering is good, but the shot feels too static to me, everything is neatly balanced, and while that might work for some shots, i think the fog and weather elements ask for more tension. Maybe if the peak were a little off center it might have worked better for me. Oregon Cascades will get a pounding next week, hopefully some of it will work its way south to you! :wavey:

I think it's excellent, Chris, and I continue to be envious of your productivity on your trips to Yosemite. I see where Stan's coming from on the composition and agree, somewhat anyway. Not a biggie at all in my book though and a small crop from the left might help.

You mean you copied me?  :wavey: Just razzin ya.

Seriously though, this is excellent! Not much I can think of to suggest, I really like this as presented. It sure was a beautiful morning. Can't believe that was the last snow the valley or CA for that matter has seen. Hopefully soon.

Nice capture Chris, good job on your pano stitch. I think your intimate scenes of trees are alot stronger. Hope to see ya in valley this spring.

Chris,

It's a very nice pano from a place I know very well. The high values look good, but I think the darker greys and the blacks could be a little deeper for a more dramitic effect. The white area of sky on the left draws my eye. You might consider cropping the left side. Doing so would eliminate the featureless white area and also place Sentinel Rock in a more commanding position. I agree that Sentinel needs a little more breathing room at the top.

The title describes it well Chris. This is imposing, particularly in the large version. A large print will have a strong impact. Initially I thought I prefer the color image with similar composition, but after seeing the large version, I appreciate this one equally. Very good work!

The scale here is very dramatic. Those oaks in the foreground look like so tiny compared with the massive cliffs. I also like the framing between the white snow and the white clouds. Just wish there were a bit more texture in the snow back close to the trees.

I think the large version has to be seen to really appreciate this Chris! Glad you included it!

Chris, your image has a nice graphic quality to me. The subtle details of the rock face are presented wonderfully and the b&w conversion is spot on in my opinion.
