This is a quick experiment using some of the new features in LR4. I'd like to know your thoughts on the image as well as the processing..thanks!

Wow! This image give a sense of vastness that I really like. The shutter speed appears to be very long, which I also enjoy.
Is there any access down to the base of the fall, or around that area? I see a fence in the mid-left of the frame here, so I'm guessing most of it is blocked off? Whatever the case---beautiful photo!

Jack,
It appears to be super HDR'ed over the top...
But I really like it that way
Very interesting, to say the least...

Actually, this is just a single shot, longer exposure..no HDR or double process.

Generally it looks pretty good to me. I could see calling it "done" and leaving it at that. It does seem to me that some small adjustments could be made to...for lack of a better term...even out the luminosity of different parts of the image. From my perspective it's minor stuff, but the falls seem a bit bright compared to the rest of the scene, the sky along the horizon is maybe a tad too dark, and I'm on the fence about whether portions of the walls are just a bit bright.
All that said, it's an excellent shot of the falls with an interesting sky, some nice soft light, and a good composition. I've never been there in person but this feels like a pretty natural presentation of what I expect it looks like in this type of light, with perhaps some minor and reasonable artistic liberties.

Really nice scene and colors. Don't know what the new features are, but they seem to be working! Nice processing.

Jack, i'd say this is a very natural looking, and pleasing rendition of Palouse. I imagine that your LR workflow is shorter than PS, thus providing some added benefit?

Navin, yes the workflow is a lot quicker that PS which is a good thing for the most part. I just ran this up very quickly...10 minutes at the most. I love the new sliders and the overall layout in the develop panel. I do see a need to go into PS for fine point editing but I really like what I see so far in LR4. If anyone decides to "try" it, I would say make a collection called test photos...don't count on a beta version to save all your collections when the final version is released.

Jack,
Interesting because my first impression wasn't one of HDR at all. Looks to me like this is nicely processed. I've never been so I can't speak to the colors, but the clean white of the falls tells me the overall color balance is good. Not sure if the vignetting is natural or processed, but the effect works well with this image. I think this turned out very well.

The processing looks pretty natural for a low light situation, which it must have been to retain those colors in the sky. I would have preferred a little more detail in the falls, but it looks like they are rock'n andd it would have required another exposure/blend. WHile I like the expansive feel, maybe a bit too much on the right for me. Quite a sight.

Certainly like the comp and light. The magenta in the lower sky seems a bit strong to me.
