Got this mallard at a local lake as he starts to take flight. I like the pose/wing position of this shot and the water drops falling off of him.

D300s and 200-400 with TC 14
1/1600 @ 5.6 ISO 500
70% of FF

Thanks for any C and C

Very nice - detail and exposure look good. I'd loosen up on the crop, though, if this was mine.

Nicely frozen and I like the partial foot-tuck you got here. If it were mine, I'd try to tease a little more detail out of the underwings. If you have the pixels, I'd leave just a little more room on the top and back.

Lovely lighting and action Robert, maybe a little more room up top and left if you have it. Sweet shot! :toast:

Nice iridescence green, and a beautiful takeoff position Robert. I'd like a tad more room as well, if you have the pixels.

Robert, I love the take off position and nice habitat. The water drops are great too. For me the image looks too bright. Especially, the under wing area and BG. The underwing area shows much less detail than I would expect to see from an image that is 70% of FF. If this were mine I would bring the brightest areas down some. Just some suggestions.

Excellent take-off posture and I like the setting. Sharpness looks good. Some of the underwing looks too bright to me and lacking in detail.

Overall a fine job Robert, it's a great BG/setting and flight pose.
I see the others have pointed out some nits, so enough said.
Pleasing image as posted! :wavey:

Here is a repost. I tried to get more detail in the wings and I darkened the picture overall. Unfortunately my photoshop skills are somewhat lacking so let me know if this works or it needs more. I would like to get a good file on this shot because I'm thinking about making a large print. Also unfortunately there is no more room at the top and the right unless I add canvas. Thanks to you all for your comments.
