Alaska Waterfall

This image of Liberty Falls was taken in Alaska in the summer of 2011.

I am specifically asking that when critiquing this photograph that consideration is given to the fact that I would like to enlarge and hang this image in my home. I am fairly new at editing landscape images and sometimes I do not see nor am I aware of what needs to be done to improve an image.

I color corrected, did a levels adjustment, brightened the greenery, added a bit of fog in the upper right corner to match the bright upper left corner of the image, & sharpened.

7D - EF24-70mm F/2.8L - ISO 100 - Gitzo
5.0 s @ F/16.0 - B+W 77mm ND 1,8 filter

Thanks in advance

Very nice Dottie. You did a nice job in the processing correcting the color - water looks nice and white. Nice shutter speed too. I wish the intruding branch on the left wasn't sticking out there so much, but that would be a pretty tough cloning job.

Hope the skeeters left you alone! I agree with Bill on the processing and camera technique. Also, on the branch out over the water, but I don't think it would be that difficult to clone, at least back to the rock to the left of it.

I stopped at these falls several times on the way to Kennicott. Nice park.

This is a nice intimate portrait of the stream and falls. I like the arch of the stream leading to the falls. The processing looks good to me, with the possible exception of the "fog" in the upper left, which feels a bit bright. Cloning that one branch would be a noticeable improvement (and I try to resist cloning).

Dottie, I like your scene and capture a lot...
I have to agree with the overhanging branch.
One other thing to possibly consider, a B&W conversion...
maybe just take a look... you have a lot of great tones in there.

I was clicking around looking for you and discovered this post. Just great. I love the comp which you have chosen. The eye follows through from the first fall to the bottom. Love the water effect that you have achieved. Just enough detail in that upper fall, yet smooth down below. Very moody and nice.

I like this. The framing with the trees is really nice and the water textures contrasting with the rock create a lot of interest.

Nice image; good job on the water, especially the waterfall. I agree with the others that the branch would be better cloned out (and I don't like cloning either!). You might want to consider doing some burning or darkening of some parts of the water, depending on how they turn out when it's printed.
